Can we write with participation of the whole of our embodied selves? In this workshop, we will explore the use of different vowels to shape the emotional tone of what we write and incite corresponding responses in readers. Discover how the use of certain vowels can evoke and broaden our expressive range, as vowel sounds underlie expression of feelings. With in-class exercises, including attentive relaxation and following the breath through the body, we’ll become aware of how words resonate; this will enable our writing process to reach new depths of clarity and communication. By allowing our whole body to become carriers of the messages in our hearts and minds, we can write more freely, more precisely, more evocatively, and help ourselves eliminate barriers, even writer’s block. This approach can serve writers of all genres.
